SWAHILI FASHION WEEK TO CELEBRATE
FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
Swahili Fashion Week, East and Central
Africa largest fashion event, now in its fifth year, will be held at The Golden
Tulip Hotel on the 6th, 7th and 8th December
2012 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
Swahili Fashion Week 2012 will
collectively bring together over 50 stakeholders from the fashion industry from
Swahili speaking countries and beyond to showcase their creativity and forecast
future fashion trends for the region.
“This year we have grown tremendously as
we have 23 established Tanzanian designers, and the rest from outside Tanzania,
who will showcase their work on this platform apart from the 16 designers who
showcased during the Nairobi showcase on October 6 in Kenya” stated Swahili

In addition to the Fashion Show
presentations, Swahili Fashion Week Shopping Festival which was incorporated in
year 2010 will once again be the main feature bringing more than 30 exhibitors
under one roof thus making it the largest shopping festival in the country.
“As per its tradition, Swahili Fashion
Week provides platform for budding talents thus on 24 November there shall be
an Open models Casting for new and upcoming male and female models and on 7
December a FREE workshop sponsored by USAID Compete for all fashion designers
in the country that will be held at the Golden Tulip .” added Benbella
Various competitions have been planned
during the fashion week, amongst them being the Emerging Designers Competition
and the T shirt Graphic design Competition. They not only provide the
competitive spirit within the design industry but stand as the stepping stone
to the Brands of Future.
“Swahili
Fashion week launch party will be held on 25 November at the Thai Village,
from 9PM. During the launch party, Various Nominees for the Second Swahili
Fashion Week Awards in 16 categories, The First and Only award in the region,
will be announced. Tickets for the Launch party are available at the Epidor, Thai Village

Swahili Fashion Week is the largest annual
fashion platform in East and Central Africa,
to date. Now In its fifth
year, Swahili Fashion Week is now THE platform for fashion and accessory
designers from Swahili Speaking Countries and the African continent to showcase their talent, market
their creativity and network with clientele. This is all aimed at emphasizing
to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry, whilst promoting “Made in Africa"
concept
Having initiated
a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in the region, Swahili Fashion Week is now geared
towards being the most sought out
after fashion platform in Africa for the international market founded, created and conceptualised in year 2008
by Mustafa Hassanali.
As of 2013, Swahili Fashion Week will be a Bi-Annual Event,
with Kenyan Edition to be Held during the first Half of the year and the Main
event to be held in the later half, in Tanzania
